Timothy Stotz is a draftsman, painter, and teacher. He was one of eight original members of the Jacob Collins Studio (1995-97) and was one of eleven founding members of the Water Street Atelier (1997), both in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Stotz has been the recipient of many distinguished grants, fellowships and exhibition prizes for his painting. These awards include: an extended Fulbright-Hays Grant for Painting to Madrid, Spain, where he was sponsored by the painter Antonio Lopez Garcia to study the works of Velazquez and Goya; a Vermont Studio Center Fellowship, where he worked briefly with the painter Gregory Gillespie; and two grants for classical painting from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, Montreal, Canada. He is the founder and director of Studio Escalier, located in Argenton-Château, France, where he teaches drawing and painting. He has previously taught at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, at the Seattle Academy of Fine Arts, and privately in NYC. His work is included in public and private collections across the United States and Europe.
