Artist Statement:

My paintings are about beauty, light, and luminosity inspired by the Dutch Masters of the 1500’s onward and the Academic Painters of the 1800’s along with Contemporary Classical Masters. All provide inspiration. The Dutch painters challenge; the Academics and Contemporary Classical Masters challenge and provide the technique and method. In addition, contemporary thought, subject matter and concept are guiding lights. The paintings are executed with a reverence for the objects represented, with awe for the play of light and color plus the need for a bit of mystery and wonder.

My desire is to paint beauty and by doing that to provide a moment for the viewer to transcend the ordinary, to give time for contemplation and meditation, to allow space for the human spirit. Each piece is a moment of stillness and life’s energy simultaneously. My paintings are offered as a refuge, a sanctuary, a place to rest and a time to renew your spirit.
