Robert Meredith

Robert Meredith has worked as a professional artist since his first summer job at the age of sixteen in the design department of McNeel Monument Company in Marietta, Georgia. He received his BFA degree in drawing and painting from the University of Georgia in 1963. Lamar Dodd was his major professor.

He has had forty five one-man shows from Texas to Massachusetts. They include 3 at the Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee, one at William Paterson College in Paterson N.J., and three at the Frederick-Nila Gallery in Longview Texas. His paintings were exhibited at St Botolph’s Club, the famous art club of the Boston painters where John S. Sargent and Claud Monct were introduced to the United States. His paintings have been exhibited at the Frame House Gallery in Louisville Kentucky and at the Marietta, Cobb Museum of Art in Marietta, Georgia. Meredith's most recent exhibition was a retrospective of about 60 paintings, 30 old and 30 new, at the Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, Georgia.

His paintings hang in the collections of the State of Tennessee and the Tennessee Fine Arts League, and at Belmont College, Emory University, Dekalb College, Southern Polytechnical, and Kennesaw State University.

He was a member of Grand Central Gallery and the Salmagundi Club in New York City. His collectors include Steve Martin the actor, Richard Manoogian (the number one collector of American art), Eddy Nicholson (the first man to pay one million dollars for a piece of furniture), Peter Bonaparth (President, Jones of New York) and Arthur and Stephany Blank. His corporate collectors include TycoToys, Masco, Jones of New York and Wellington Management.
